Peru: Macha Pichu

Macha Pichu was highlight of our Peru trip (other than our friend's wedding on beach by Lima). Have you seen Castle in the Sky movie by Hayao Miyazaki? Totally think that he got inspired by Macha Pichu. It is hard to describe the place but I will try... it is very very far from our normal life (both physically and mentally... took us bus, train and another bus to finally reach there.) We felt this very spiritual sense when we stood on the site (and we heard other people feeling the similar sensation). Is it the misty weather? Is it because it is on top of strenuous mountain? Do spirits actually live there (very Japanese thinking)??? I don't know... but we felt something touch us really deep. Thought we can touch the sky. Felt inspired and totally wowed by ingenuity of people who used to live there... Wanted to see more and be there longer...
