Very smart design. More reason to keep your beautiful apple packaging.

Sac A faire, DIY bag made of Tyvek (FedEx envelop material.) You choose a pattern, cut it out. Voila! You have a very special bag. It's made in Austria. On market for around $33. Love to get one for toybox collection.

Turning this dish gives it another function, on one side it is a candle holder, on the other it functions as a bowl. Multi-functionality is a reoccurring aspect in the work of Dutch designer Willem Noyons.

This week is Art Center's week 14. (final week of semester) We thought it would be nice to share snapshots from different presentations throughout the week. This one is from Product Design 1 taught by Norm Schureman and Laura Dye. Assignment was to design a bird house/feeder. Some really clever ideas and also very elaborative presentation.
We think that there is something really interesting about the blurred boundary of digital and real world. The icon of folders was used on digital world to help people understand the concept of a place where you can store a collection of files into one place... now it's making it back to the real world as Neuer Ordner but in a very iconic way in front of blue window screen!! With trash bin underneath.

We have new items in toy box. Jan Vonborstel's ceramic cups with felt cover. Felt cover fit just right so the outside of the cup becomes one surface with different materials. Very beautiful. You can see his work at www.janvonborstel.com. We love his "Jan buys stuff" photo series on his website.
Our friend, Daisuke Yamaguchi designed a very cool LaptopSticks ($10/stick). This small device helps the bottom of your laptop to be tilted upward to reduce the strain on your neck and also keeps your laptop cooler with air space underneath it. it's compact enough to carry around in a laptop bag. It is made out of bamboo plywood and every inch of the material is used. (Sleeve to keep the LaptopSticks together when it is carried is made out of the negative space of the stick itself...etc)
He is making more for holiday seasons and currently taking pre-orders. (laptopsticks@gmail.com)
